BiographyMember 35th Fighter-Bomber squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Group. Pilot of F-80C Shooting Star fighter interceptor. Was on bombing mission against a railway complex in North Korea when aircraft developed cockpit fire and crashed into the sea. Duer ejected and was taken POW. Presumed dead December 31, 1953 and remains not recovered, given memorial stone at Fort Logan. Awarded Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart, Prisoner of War Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and Republic of Korea War Service Medal. Also served in World War II.
